At Tawil, Kuwait

Alhough a nation of only 17,818 km², Kuwait has an outsized role in oil production, having an estimated 94 billion barrels of proven oil reserves, about 9 percent of the world’s total. The Greater Burgan field, near At Tawil, is the oldest and largest of Kuwait’s oil fields, producing about 1.7 million barrels of oil a day.
Kuwait currently produces more than 2.8 million barrels of oil and 18 million m3 of gas every day, and has plans to nearly double its gas production.
Kuwait has the largest US military presence in the Middle East region, with over 14,000 US military personnel stationed in the country.
