SHORT RURAL RESIDENCIES

- creating for a change...

My family and I live in a very rural location on a 4 acre part-wild/part-cultivated smallholding, adjacent to ancient woodland and close to the Suffolk coast and rivers. We have converted an outbuilding into a self-contained, open plan ‘live-work’ studio (sleeping up to 4) and we would like offer this space for a number of short residencies to support artists and creative people, in particular those whose practice isn’t primarily commercially based and who don’t normally have access to this type of space. Any media considered - proposals from writers, fiim-makers, performance artists, campaigners, visual & sound artists, educators... all welcome.

The residency is offered free of charge. However, it would be great to have some sort of  ‘gift’ or exchange from the residency (ideas, artwork, intervention, piece of writing, documentation - you decide...).

Whilst an ideal retreat / working space, we hope that artists might join us for occasional shared meals and exchange of ideas.

Please email your ideas for the residency and a little about yourself to fran@flyintheface.com, together with any relevant website links and images (max 300KB each please).

Priorty will be given to ideas using outside space and/or addressing contemporary issues (especially climate change), and from artists who normally have limited access to rural / outside working space. Responses to the Museum of Beyond and ideas as to how we might facilitate the imagining of a more positive future are particularly welcome.
